Sonoma County Modern Charm Ranch Wedding

We had an amazing time this fall working at French Oak Ranch with Jesse and Darren and helping make their wedding photography dreams come to life!! I still remember our first meeting and Jesse pulled out her planning binder and showed us all her romantic color tones and I thought it was magic, she did her part and picked the perfect venue to highlight her day and had an amazing coordinator to help bring it all to life, it was a day to remember for sure!!

“We wanted our wedding to be inviting, beautiful, full of love and above all, fun. Good food and drinks were at the top of the priority list as well. We spent a lot of time planning the little details - matching the invitations to the decor, curating the playlists for pre ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing, crafting the place card tiles, creating our own special wine label, collecting vases, among other things. We had a lot of fun planning our wedding together - it was a lot of work but oh so worth it to see our vision come together. We had the best day and wish we could go back and relive it again.”

The special touches of this day really get me!! The grooms mom stitched this handkerchief for him to have, and made the bride one as well, such a beautiful sentiment!

“We met through a dating app (shocking, I know) in San Francisco in May of 2015. After a few months of dating, it was pretty clear we had something special. We moved in together in my little studio apartment in May 2016 - we knew if we could survive living in a 450 square foot studio apartment than this whole thing was probably going to work out. In May of 2017 we traveled to Italy with my parents and sister's family for lovely two week vacation. On the third day of the trip, Darren surprised me by proposing at a beautiful overlook in Rome. We got to go back to the apartment and share the news with my family, who was just thrilled. We started planning our wedding right when we got back from our trip.”

As you can see the ceremony was full of tears and laughter, it was a beautiful ceremony with perfect weather! The venue has a great ceremony site that overlooks the lake, it was very simple and let the scenery tell the story!

We asked Jesse about some of the unique elements of her day and she didnt only have one, she had a bunch!! She explains about their vases, custom coasters and one of the sweetest additions was their custom wine label her mom helped create!! “We collected all of the flower vases from friends, family, Goodwill, Craigslist etc. over the last year. We love the unique look the variety of vases brought to the tables. It was also important to us that we "recycle" old vases rather than buying new and creating more waste. Red wine served at dinner: Our friend and guest at the wedding, who is a winemaker in Paso Robles, made the lovely Rhone Blend wine served with dinner. My mom (bride's mom) sketched the image of French Oak Ranch on the label. It was really special to have wine our friend made labeled with a beautiful graphite sketch that my mom drew! Tile Coaster Place cards: we put a lot of love into making the "place cards" that doubled as the wedding favor - a Carrara marble tile with copper foiled name for each guest. The added personal touch and pop of copper they brought to the table were so worth the time and effort spend making them!”

It really shows when a couple puts in extra time to their wedding, the guests love it, and it makes the day so much more THEM!! We love that about weddings, while the timeline of the day may be similar to another one, the actual day and details are all so unique and fun!

As the sun started to set we ventured around the property and shot at a few different locations! There was so much here to offer, a lot of variation and beauty to utilize… and as you can see, when working with two people so in love and perfect together, our job really is the easy one! :)
