We stumbled across The Barns at Willow Creek a while back at a bridal show and really loved how they stood out in a crowd of so many similar venues! As we all know, if you have a nice property, a barn and a lake, you can easily be a wedding venue, but that is not what makes a venue work well or create beautiful weddings, its the people behind it! So we met with them and got the grand tour of the 53 acre venue and heard about all of up and coming changes they have planned!
And thanks to our awesome friend Bucheli Photography, we were able to snag some shots from the past weddings she has shot there to see the full effect of the venue!
One nice thing about this spot, is that they offer a lot of all inclusive options with their packages, so if you are looking for something unique and special but do not have the time or energy to pick and choose all the finishing touches, they can easily help you out!
They currently offer three beautifully landscaped ceremony locations and three reception locations, there is the Creekside, The Tents, and the Barns. “The venue includes plenty of space for ceremony, reception, wedding pictures, strolling, dancing, everything your heart desires. We provide padded chairs for your guests’ comfort. Our beautifully creative inventory of decor and table settings – from country to couture, vintage china to mason jar stemware – allows us to create a truly unique and memorable event. Mix and match to create a style that’s all your own.”
When should we book the venue?!
When we asked about timeline for their space they recommend reaching out about 12 months out if you are looking for a spring or fall wedding, if you are flexible on dates you have a little wiggle room. We always stand by the idea that you should find your venue towards the top (if not FIRST) on your list of things to find!
Are there changing/getting ready spaces for the bride and the groom?
Yes, they are on different ends of the property! There is both AC/Heat depending on the weather. You can either use the house which sleeps 10, use of the small cabin good for 2, all of the local hotels/inns in Grass valley and Yuba City.
Can we have our rehearsal dinner here?
The rehearsal is allowed, but since the venue does not have a full kitchen they recommend finding a local restaurant for the actual dinner.
Is there a weather contingency plan?
Having three ceremony locations does have its perks! They offer both the tents or the barn for indoor ceremonies if necessary for weather.
How many weddings/events do you host per day/per weekend?
They only host one wedding per day, but are open to hosting more than one wedding a weekend, just one per day.
Are there any décor restrictions?
Just no open flames, they also offer a lot of decor and table setting options that are included with the cost!
When are we/vendors allowed to arrive to set up?
Open at 8am! One of the offerings of the venue is to help with set up and breakdown as well.
Do you have in house catering or a list of vendors we can use for catering?
You can use outside caterers as long as they are licenced appropriately. They have a list of companies who have worked there before to help you find someone who knows the space and criteria as well.
Can we do a sparkler exit?
Yes! As long as its on the gravel or concrete, not inside the barn or near the tents.
When do we have to be cleaned up/cleared out by?
They ask that you are cleared out by 11pm, music ends at 10pm.
Are we allowed to hire a live band? Or DJ?
Sure! Live bands are great, just make sure that the acoustics work well and you are off to the races!
