Capturing this Special Vintage Geode Inspired Sonoma County Day
Last month (on my birthday!) we had the immense pleasure of shooting a beautiful wedding in Sonoma County at Oakmont Golf Club that couldn’t have been on a more perfect day! The weather was warm with a slight breeze and spirits were high… but why wouldn’t they be!?
The wedding had tons of great vintage touches, from the brides earrings, clutch all the way to her beaded ivory gown! It was such a perfect touch of vintage while keeping the overall feeling of the day clean and contemporary. They also added an amazing touch of having the entire wedding themed to a geode pattern around the reception which was a bright and unique touch! The invitations, place holders, and table numbers all were inspired with the beautiful intricate crystal design. Lindsey said she had someone from Etsy do all of the custom calligraphy on each place holder, and had an entire custom geode kit for her invitations and table numbers.
Another great part of this day was the venue! We love working with Oakmont Golf Club because they make life for us and the couple EASY!!What more do you want on your wedding day than to have a beautiful venue, well decorated and efficiently coordinated, right? Every wedding we have had the pleasure of working at Oakmont has a great bartender, really nice servers, and the coordinators are always on their A-game! We would highly recommend adding them to your search if you are looking for an all-inclusive style venue!
Now… let’s talk about these flowers, can we say AMAZING!? They were so delicate, soft and beautiful! Not only were they the perfect tone and feeling for Lindsey’s day, but they also held up really well which is a great bonus for flowers, especially when you are selecting softer varieties like peonies. Poppystone Floral Couture did the flowers, and did a great job, make sure to ask for Susan!
The reception was fun and light hearted complimenting the couple perfectly! One thing that really stood out to us that isn’t very common was after the first dances, the groom actually went over grabbed his mother in law, and the bride did the same with her father in law and did another fun dance all together. We thought this was so touching, because all the parents are important in this equation, am I right!? The other amazingly touching moment that rang true was when Lindsey got a facetime call from her sister… who was in Australia and couldn’t make it to the wedding. Although she couldn’t make it, the best part was that the cellphone just kept getting passed around to all of the guests and family so it really was like she was there! Throughout the whole night we would see that phone pop up, either at tables of people chatting, or on the dance floor with everyone boogieing down!
This was a beautiful wedding, filled with family, love and close friends. Everyone was having a great time, enjoying the festivities and the bride and groom, and amazing way to spend the day, one more reason why we love our job.
